Community Yoga at Le Dôme: Supporting Cadela Carlota and Animal Welfare
This year, Le Dôme in Lagos has decided to support Cadela Carlota, a local charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of abandoned dogs and cats in the Algarve. Founded on values of empathy, respect, and kindness, this partnership is deeply aligned with the core principles of yoga as practised at Le Dôme.
As part of this collaboration, we have hosted several community yoga classes, with all proceeds donated directly to Cadela Carlota. These classes offer a special opportunity to practise together while making a real contribution to animal welfare. The connection between yoga and compassion for animals is far from incidental — it is grounded in the deeply healing power of the human-animal bond.
Numerous scientific studies have shown that contact with animals encourages the release of oxytocin — the hormone linked to bonding, wellbeing, and emotional safety. Animals play a powerful role in supporting vulnerable individuals, from children to the elderly, by creating a space of calm, trust, and connection.
By supporting a charity like Cadela Carlota, we give a voice and a chance to those who have often had none. At the same time, we deepen our own humanity — through generosity, compassion, and mindful action.
Joining a community yoga session at Le Dôme is more than a physical practice — it’s a way to show up for life, for kindness, and for those who need it most.
